A year in the life...

It is 1965, just outside of Seoul, in Korea. This young boy is in a "mixed blood" orphanage, run by the church. Most likely his mother was Korean and his father an American GI. He is at the orphanage because he has been abandoned. And because of his parentage, he has been shunned by the families who might otherwise adopt an orphan.

At the time, much of Korea was poor, still recovering from World War II and the Korean war. Since then, it has grown into a mighty industrial nation.

I wonder what has become of this child, forty years later. Perhaps he grew up along with his country. Perhaps he found opportunities as his country expanded and grew.

I hope so.
